Garage door unresponsive – remote control or motor?
First check the battery in the remote control – this is the most common cause. If the wall button inside the garage also fails to work, check the fuse in the fuse box. Many garage door openers have a manual emergency release (red pull cord on the motor) that allows you to open the door by hand. Important: switch off the power at the fuse box before working on the drive unit. If the photo-eye sensors (typically small sensors on the left and right at floor level) are dirty, clean them with a dry cloth. For mechanical faults in the drive unit or the spring mechanism, contact a specialist – door springs are under extreme tension and are life-threatening.
