Awning stuck – won't extend or retract

For crank-operated awnings, first check that the crank is properly engaged and that the gear mechanism is not clogged with sand or dirt – clean it dry and apply a little PTFE spray to the moving parts. For motorised awnings, check that the motor is receiving power and whether a wind or rain sensor is blocking retraction. Never force the awning open if it is stuck, as this can damage the guide rails or the fabric. If the rails are visibly bent or the motor is faulty, contact a specialist awning company.
