Guitar Buzzes – Fret Buzz on Certain Notes

Fret buzz occurs when a string touches a fret while vibrating. Common causes include action that is too low, a warped neck, or a raised fret. First, check whether the neck is straight: hold the guitar horizontally and sight down the strings – a slight forward bow (relief) is normal. When buzzing occurs, press down more firmly and closer behind the fret. For truss rod adjustments or fret leveling, always consult an experienced luthier – incorrect adjustments can permanently damage the neck.
