Tuner Showing Wrong Notes – How to Use It Correctly
Tuners are sensitive to background noise and incorrect settings. Make sure the device is set to the correct reference pitch – the standard is A = 440 Hz. Tune in a quiet environment and pluck the string firmly so the tuner can detect the note cleanly. For guitars, a clip-on tuner attached directly to the headstock is recommended, as it measures vibration rather than sound. Replace the battery if the display responds slowly or flickers – a weak battery is the most common cause of inaccurate readings.
