Garden Pump Won't Draw Water – What to Check?

A common cause is a lack of priming water (pump not filled) or a leaky suction pipe drawing in air. Completely fill the pump and suction pipe with water before starting (priming). Check all hose connections and seals on the suction pipe for air leaks. Make sure the suction strainer is fully submerged in water and is not blocked. Observe the maximum suction head stated in the manual – usually no more than 7–8 metres. For electrical problems or motor damage, please contact an electrician or specialist.
