Light Flickering – Causes and Solutions
Flickering light often has a harmless cause: a loose or not fully tightened bulb or LED. First turn the bulb out and screw it back in firmly – make sure the fitting is cool before doing so. With LED bulbs, flickering can also be caused by a dimmer that is not LED-compatible; in that case, replace the dimmer with a compatible model or remove it entirely. If the flickering continues, the lamp socket may be corroded or the contact bent – carefully bend the small metal contact inside the socket slightly upward (switch off the power at the fuse box first!). If flickering occurs in multiple rooms simultaneously or is very irregular, there may be a loose main connection – this is dangerous and requires an electrician immediately.
