Socket Has No Power – What to Do?

If a socket suddenly stops supplying power, it is often due to a tripped circuit breaker or RCD in the fuse box. First check whether any switch in the fuse box has flipped down and reset it. Sometimes several sockets share the same circuit – check neighbouring sockets as well. Test the socket with a different device to rule out a fault with the device itself. If the fuse is fine and the socket remains dead, there may be a loose terminal or a faulty connection inside the socket – only a qualified electrician is permitted to open and repair this.
