Silicone sealant in the shower or bathtub is going mouldy

Mould in silicone sealant is caused by persistently high humidity and poor ventilation. Start by treating it with a mould remover spray (chlorine-based), leave it to work, and wipe it off. If that doesn't help, cut out the old sealant completely using a sealant knife or craft knife, allow the surface to dry thoroughly (at least 24 hours), and reseal with sanitary silicone that contains mould protection. Always ventilate the bathroom well after showering to prevent recurrence. Important: Never mix chlorine-based cleaners with other cleaning products, as toxic gases can be produced.
