Dripping Tap – Still Dripping Even When Fully Off
The cause is usually a worn washer or cartridge inside the tap. Step 1: Turn off the main stopcock or isolator valve. Step 2: Remove the decorative cap and screw on the handle, then unscrew the cartridge retainer. Step 3: Take out the cartridge or O-ring seal, note the type or take a photo, and replace it at a DIY store. Step 4: Reassemble everything in reverse order and slowly turn the water back on. For a single-lever mixer tap, a ceramic cartridge (approx. £5–15) is usually the most cost-effective solution.
