Power Drill Won't Start – What to Do
The cause is usually a power supply issue, a triggered overload protector, or a faulty on/off switch. First, check the power cord for visible damage and test the outlet with another device. Many power drills have a thermal cut-out – if the drill has overheated, simply let it cool for 10–15 minutes and try again. Check that the speed dial and the forward/reverse switch are fully engaged in their positions. Warning: Do not open the housing yourself if you have no knowledge of electrical work – live components are located inside. If you suspect a broken cable or faulty switch, take the tool to a power tool repair service.
