E-Bike/Pedelec: Battery No Longer Charging Properly

If the e-bike battery no longer charges fully or at all, common causes include a deeply discharged (over-discharged) battery, a faulty charger, or poor contact at the charging port. First check whether the charger light comes on and whether the connectors are clean and undamaged – carefully wipe the contacts with a dry cloth. Always charge the battery at room temperature (10–25 °C), as cold temperatures significantly reduce charging capacity. If the battery was fully drained and stored in that state for an extended period, deep discharge may have occurred – in this case, replacement is often the only remedy. Never open the battery yourself, as lithium-ion batteries pose a fire risk if damaged. For battery diagnosis and replacement, contact an authorised e-bike dealer or the manufacturer's customer service.
