Vacuum cleaner not picking up properly or losing suction

If suction drops significantly, the airflow is almost always blocked somewhere. Check in the following order: if the bag is full (or the dustbin in the case of a bagless vacuum), replace or empty it. If the filters (the motor protection filter in front of the motor and the exhaust filter) are visibly clogged, clean or replace them. Very often, however, there is a blockage in the hose, tube, or nozzle – remove these and look or feel through them, then dislodge the blockage with a blunt object. If the vacuum gets hot or shuts off during use, switch it off immediately and clear the blockage before continuing.
