Device Not Getting an IP Address – How to Fix It

If a device shows 'No Internet Connection' or '169.254.x.x' as its IP address, the router's DHCP server has not assigned an address. First restart the router, then restart the affected device. On Windows: open the Command Prompt and enter 'ipconfig /release' followed by 'ipconfig /renew'. On a smartphone, briefly turn Wi-Fi off and back on, or delete the saved network and reconnect. Check in the router interface whether the DHCP range has enough addresses available (usually configurable under 'Home Network' or 'LAN Settings').
